A savage adaptation of Yoko Hayasuke’s Journal of a Radioactive Brain, written in the wake of the tsunami and nuclear disaster that ensued the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, Hanabi weaves Hayasuke’s diaristic account with a tapestry of tales of survival and resistance from communities who already seem to inhabit a collapsed world.
